The role is responsible for providing a managed service to clients to ensure that their IT infrastructure and systems remain operational through proactively monitoring, identifying, investigating and resolving technical incidents and problems and to restore service to clients by managing incidents to resolution. Their primary objective is to proactively review client requests or tickets and apply technical/process knowledge to resolve them without breaching service level agreement (SLA). The MS – Services Engineer (L2) focuses on second line support for incidents and requests with medium to high level of complexity.

What you'll be doing

Tasks – Firewall

  • Creation, modification, review and implementation of Firewall changes on Cisco ASA and Fortinet firewalls.
  • Working with end users to accurately scope requirements and define firewall changes
  • Adherence to client policies and workflow
  • Firewall rule reporting
  • Documentation of changes in CMDB, Tufin, Remedy and other tools.
  • Troubleshooting implementation issues with firewall rules
  • Troubleshooting routing & NAT issues relating to the firewall infrastructure

Tasks – Authentication

  • Creation, modification, review and implementation of AAA related changed on Cisco ISE/Aruba ClearPass appliances and a range of NAS devices. (Cisco/HP routers/switches)
  • Troubleshooting Incidents and Requests with regards to AAA or Cisco ISE infrastructure.
  • Adherence to client policies and workflow
  • Ad-hoc Cisco ISE rule reporting
  • Documentation of changes in CMDB, Remedy and other tools.

Tasks – General

  • Potential to be part of a 24/7 on-call team to implement critical changes if required.

What would make you a good fit for this role?

Requirements – Must Have

  • Must hold CCNP Security or R&S certification. (Related security certifications will be considered also)
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, IP routing concepts and firewall based security in an Enterprise context.
  • Solid understanding of AAA concepts, implementation and support.
  • Proven experience implementing changes on and troubleshooting Cisco ASA firewalls
  • Proven experience implementing changes on and troubleshooting Cisco ISE Appliances
  • Experience working in a support/NOC environment
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and to SLAs.
  • Experience working with Wireshark and similar products to analyse networking traffic flow.

Requirements – Desirable

  • Experience with Tufin is desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience with Fortinet Firewalls is desirable.
  • Experience with Aruba ClearPass is desirable.
  • Experience working with servers OS and/or enterprise application support is desirable.
