We are hiring an International Manager to take our ‘Inclusive Business’ work forward

This is a challenging leadership position in which you will support Rikolto's work across 4 continents to deliver innovative Inclusive Business programmes.

Building inclusive business relationships between smallholders and other food chain actors is Rikolto’s core business. We strongly believe that long-term collaborative relationships built on trust and mutual respect are the basis for the sustainability of food systems. We have therefore invested significantly in innovative approaches such as CIAT’s LINK methodology and the Inclusive Business Scan, based on SenseMaker.

  • Job purpose: Lead the further development of the inclusive business strategies within Rikolto. This entails supporting innovation within the programmes, leading programme design processes, developing networks that position Rikolto as one of the leading NGOs on Inclusive Business and translating this into new funding for our programmes.

  • Location: One of the Rikolto offices worldwide

  • Travels: Intensive travelling may be required

Responsibilities

The Inclusive Business Manager is part of the Global Support Team and is expected to collaborate with and support regional offices and other global teams, such as the commodity clusters. The key responsibilities are:

Enhancing our inclusive business strategies and practice

Analyses, exchanges successful implementation from inside and outside Rikolto and proposes improvements of strategies and practice together with program staff worldwide.

Enhancing innovation within the Inclusive Business approaches

Identifies and facilitates opportunities and ideas for innovative practice with regard to Inclusive Business, in accordance with Rikolto’s strategies, based on an understanding of the major challenges, developments and existing and future agendas in the area, knowledge of the actions of relevant players and understanding of techniques and processes to generate ideas and solutions.

Creating funding opportunities

Transforms ideas into relevant project and program proposals and attract funds for implementation in close collaboration with business development and fundraising staff.

Network development

Builds and maintains strategic relationships with key institutional partners and donors; creates a podium for co-creation & partnership and represents Rikolto at key global positioning events.


Profile

Qualifications:

Master's degree or equivalent in (Development) economics, business administration, agriculture/food, development studies or equivalent by experience

Languages:

  • Very good knowledge of English as working language of Rikolto (essential)
  • Very good knowledge of Spanish/French (preferable)

Experience:

  • Recognized expert in engaging private sector with smallholder farmers and inclusive business in particular
  • Background in International Development Cooperation/International Food Sector
  • Experience in collaborating with private actors, multi-stakeholder approaches
  • Has access to an international network

Skills and knowledge:

  • Has a good knowledge of sustainable development issues, inclusive business models, value chains and associated areas
  • Has a global vision and a broad interest, is able to see problems from different angles and seek solutions with experts
  • Is an excellent cross-cultural communicator and an active listener
  • Is a strong networker
